If you deleted a record that you need to recover, we've got good news. ServiceNow makes it easy to 'undelete' a record in ServiceNow.
In this post, we'll go over a quick guide on how you can recover a record that you deleted.
This method works for any configuration record, whether that's a Business Rule, Client Script, variable in a record producer, etc.
Let's get into it.
Start off by navigating to to System Definition > Deleted Records in your application navigator. This will open the Audit Deleted Records [sys_audit_delete] table.
Once you're on the list view for the Audit Deleted Records table, add filters to locate the record(s) that you want to restore.
Click on the record(s) that you'd like to restore, and then click the 'Undelete Record' UI Action as shown below:
If you have a lot of records to undelete, you can restore them in bulk, do the following:
• Add a check next to each record that you want to undelete
• Click 'Actions on selected rows' (in the upper right hand corner in the Next Experience UI, may be located in a different spot depending on your instance version)
• Choose the 'Undelete Records' option
The process to undelete the record in ServiceNow is complete.
The last thing you'll want to do is go and verify that the restoration actually worked. For example, if you wanted to restore a variable on a catalog item, then go check to see if that variable is there now.
If everything is restored correctly, then you're all done! You've successfully undeleted your records, and you're good to go.
Rinse and repeat the above steps as needed anytime you need to restore a deleted record in ServiceNow.
